0

Startups in Nigeria are really doing well if we are honest. Recently 23 of them received the Google black founder fund meant to help them scale their startup in terms of funding, and other add-ons like access to mentorship and Google products.

The Black Founder Fund is a program by the tech giant, Google to have investible startups in Africa with funding and some other benefits such as access to mentoring and Google cloud credit.

With this initiative, Google has been able to help startups owned by a black founder with over $20M in just two years of launching the program (established in 2020).

Note that this capital is not a loan or an exchange for equity in the startup, it is totally free because according to the tech giant, “If we want technology to work for everyone, it needs to be built by everyone”, so Google is putting the words into action by providing capital to startups using technology to provide a solution.

This year, Google committed $4M to help 60 startups selected across different countries in Africa, 23 out of these startups only are from Nigeria, which is roughly 38% of the accepted startups.

Top 10 Startups in Nigeria Founded by Gen Z

0

You have heard about Flutterwave, Paystack, Esusu, and many other top startups in Nigeria by Nigerians to the world. But do you know we have some awesome products by Gen Z too? Here is a list of 10 startups founded in Nigeria by Gen Z. The list doesn’t follow any hierarchy but is random as the writer randomly arranged it.

Generation Z (GenZ) is basically the newest generation. These are those born between the year 1997 to 2012. They are currently between ages 10-26 years old.

GenZers (who are mostly teenagers) are majorly viewed as reckless, stubborn kids. And as such, they have mostly been shoved aside, dismissed, or not listened to. Honestly, adults shouldn’t be blamed for not trusting members of this generation or disregarding them.

In a typical Nigerian community, it is extremely difficult to find members of this generation thinking of innovation or how to change the world or things like that. I can’t tell if that’s a result of the mediocre community they find themselves in, or just a plain lack of passion, drive, and motivation.

But all that is gradually becoming yesterday’s problem.

Gen Z is the first generation to grow up with social media. This world of advanced technology has proved to be extremely helpful, although hurtful to members of the age who do not make proper of the tech resources. Regardless, many GenZers have been able to take advantage of these resources into creating a more accessible, better, and evolved world to live in.

All over the world, GenZers are making waves. They are rising up to the occasion by getting involved in every sphere of life. We have quite a number of members of this generation not only getting involved but also actively participating in areas like entertainment, business, and tech, to name a few.

In Nigeria, the rate of involvement of GenZers in tech is increasing daily. With 25% of our population falling into this generation, it is not surprising that the percentage of GenZers getting involved in tech is massive.

Okay, so Nigerian GenZers are getting involved in tech, that’s good you might say. But, they are also changing the world one code, one web/mobile app, and one startup at a time.

Let’s look at some cool startups by Nigerian GenZers that you need to watch out for because they are taking the tech space by storm:

  • KLAS: Free Online Teaching Platform

Klas was co-founded by Nathan Nwachukwu in December 2021. Nathan is 18 years old and has been interested in tech, well according to him, since he was small. Nathan had an accident in his right eye a while after his 15th birthday and that kept him away from school for months.

This allowed him to take tech more seriously since well, he couldn’t go to school. During, this period he got bored and wanted to teach physics online but found no platform that could help him in doing this. Then came the idea for Klas.

Klas is a platform for basically anyone to start up a school online. The software has basically everything needed for online teaching. Ranging from scheduling to payments, video conferencing, and the like. It already has about 2,000 creators on the waitlist.  It also recently secured funding of $130,000.

The startup recently partnered with Artickl (a UK-based startup that helps in application processes and job seeking) to better help learners to connect with job opportunities on a global level.

Creators on Klas can teach basically anything- languages,  programming, designing, school subjects, musical instruments, and many more.

Klas will help in providing education remotely and can help professors and lecturers deliver their lectures using the platform.

  • FRELAPAY: Managing Freelance Process

Frelapay is the solution for clients and freelancers alike. As a freelancer or even as a client hiring, you’ve most likely experienced one problem or the other. You’ve probably had problems with late payments and the like.

With Zeddpay you can make countless transactions with one single app. You can convert your airtime to ZeddCoin and then with your ZeddCoin you can do basically anything.

  • AEROSEEDS: Automate Reforestation

Aeroseeds is created by Pleasant Balogun (the 16-year-old creator of Zeddpay ). It is an afforestation company aimed at regenerating the ecosystem globally.

Pleasant is aiming at solving a problem that the majority didn’t even know existed.

The rate of release of carbon iv oxide increases as industrial growth increases. The effects of CO2 can be extremely dangerous to our ecosystem. Imagine CO2 as a warm blanket continually trapping heat in the atmosphere and thus warming up the earth.

This prevents the earth from cooling and eventually results in global warming. With the many problems, the world is faced with not a lot of people realize the effect of the release of CO2. The easiest and cheapest way to get rid of this problem is by planting trees.

Who will plant the trees? Manually planting trees will take so much time definitely but of course, this is the 21st century. Aeroseeds uses UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) to plant trees at strategic locations.

Although this project is still in the early stage you can make donations to support Pleasant and his team in saving the planet.

Takeaway: Top 10 Startups in Nigeria by GenZ to Watch out for

These are all amazing startups that every Tom, Dick, and Harry should be excited about.

However, these are only some of the many startups in the cooking stage by Nigerian GenZers. That’s right we’re becoming more than just lazy Nigerian youths. Many more are on the way as we hope for a generation of potential leaders that will develop solutions to the many problems still available in Nigeria and the world at large.

This is only the beginning of what will be accomplished in technology even by the newest and youngest generation.

As a GenZ (or probably you’re not) there’s absolutely no excuse to not start doing something. No one should allow the age tag to hinder him/her from doing what they think you can or should start.

It is not uncommon to be told to lay off your dream till you get to a certain age or for accomplishments and success to be defined in a mediocre term to you. Those are normal things to be told but the abnormality in it is if you don’t take it up as a challenge to prove the notion wrong.

If you succumb to pressure from the masses you might not be doing yourself any favor. And if as a Nigerian your hands are folded in waiting for a change it is definitely not the best thing to do. Be the change you want to see. Build the world you want to live in. One step at a time.

You don’t need to write codes before you get into tech, not everybody has to do that. Just make sure you have digital and technological skills.

And yes, just in case you’ve been wondering you can add technology to whatever it is you’re passionate about. Who says you can’t be a baker and a techie at the same time? You don’t want to be left behind.

How to Get Into Y Combinator? (YC Application Guide for Startups)

0

Getting into Y Combinator is the dream of many startup founders and this is due to the fact that YC is one of the best startup accelerators in the world.

If you are looking for capital for your startup, you need world-class mentorship and a network of great talents and business founders, then YC is definitely.

This is not the only reason you may want to get into the YC startup accelerator program, but the fact that they give more cash for low equity is a big deal.

Oh, if you are new to all these startups of a thing, you may not understand what is YCombinator or what they do. Let’s quickly talk about what YC is;

What is Y Combinator?

Y Combinator or simply “YC” is a startup accelerator launched in March 2005. Ever since then, the superstar accelerator has over 3,000 strong companies in its portfolio. Y Combinator startups include the likes of Stripe, Twitch, Reddit, and many others including the biggest startups in Africa like Flutterwave.

YC: Y Combinator Startup Application

YC started its accelerator program in Boston and Mountain View before it expanded to San Francisco in 2019, and the program has been entirely remote since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Who can apply to YC?

Him, she, they, you, and anybody with a good and working business idea. It doesn’t matter your skin color or where you live, anybody can apply to Y Combinator.

Why should I apply to YC?

If you have a crazy idea but would like some cash, experienced mentors and to join the network of great and successful entrepreneurs, Y Combinator will give you all the opportunities in one.

They (YCs) know that most applicants are first-time entrepreneurs, the whole process is very simple and made to favor you.

  • Aside from that, once your application is accepted, YC will give you $125k for 7% equity of your startup to start building your idea to the point you are ready for a more significant scaling.

You are not losing anything, they are risky $125k for just 7% equity, that’s a lot of money and sacrifice.

  • You also participate in a 3-months program where you meet with other companies. The program creates a competitive environment that will motivate you to create the best product. It ends with a demo day where you present your products to investors to try and raise more money for your startup

NOTE: YC doesn’t entirely end after three months, only the formal parts do. They continue to give advice and introductions for as long as the startups need.

  • The reputation speaks! Y Combinator is the biggest and most successful startup accelerator as at the time of writing this blog post. They have a lot of Unicorns in their portfolio and have generated over $300 billion.

You don’t have to Network to meet founders or have a series of meetings and lengthy conversations behind long desks giving detailed financial plans. YC summarizes everything into a detailed application on their website that anyone can fill out. They decide who they fund based on just a ten minutes interview.

When should I apply to YC?

There’s no wrong time for your startup to apply to YC. This means you can neither be too early nor too late. Your company can not be too early. Any idea you have about the time you should apply is a roadblock that you are setting for yourself.

You don’t need to have a particular amount of stuff before you feel like you’re ready. Even if your startup hasn’t launched, apply, according to YC;  “you don’t have anything to lose”.

In the same light, you cannot be too late to apply to YC. A lot of companies apply after raising money, hiring employees, and launching.

The only thing that should stop you is if you’re not planning on developing your company. If you don’t have plans for your company, then you definitely should not apply. YC is not ready to invest in your side hustle. You must be ready to put in your all or you shouldn’t apply at all.

Requirements for YC’s Application?

The requirements are so simple, have a good team, a good idea that creates value, and a billion-dollar market.

Oh, that sounds too easy. But let me break it down more

Your team should consist of the right set of people that cannot only work with you but also believe in your idea. The team should be consistent. You shouldn’t have a co-founder that has doubts about your idea or the company.

They are investing in the people behind the idea, if the people are not capable, then the idea won’t fly out.

Y Combinator really like a startup that follows ensure the following;

  • You MUST have a person with technical background on your team
  • Each of your co-founders MUST have at least 10% equity
  • All the co-founders MUST fill out the application form: the CEO will fill the main form, while you will add your co-founder’s email during the filling process and YC will send them what to fill.

If you don’t have a co-founder and you need one, YC has something for people like you. Simply sign up for an account and enable “matching” on your profile, you will start to see people who match up with your idea or the type of co-founder you may need.

Lastly, if your idea is not a billion-dollar idea, it will be tough, it has to be big, that is what they need, not a side-hustle.

So, What Makes a Good YC Application?

So many people don’t even get selected for the interview due to many misconceptions about how your application should look. Still, you’re going to see that writing a YC application is not rocket science.

The following are the few steps to writing a successful YC application:

  • Attend the Y Combinator Startup School

This is not necessary at all, but then I think it should be the first thing to do especially if you are a first-time founder of a startup. The school is totally FREE and you will from big entrepreneurs. They will teach you what you need to know right from the start to the time when to apply for funding.

The school is different from the 3-months program when you are accepted, the school is before you even apply. And you may decide not to apply to YC and still attend the school.

Oh, lest I forget, the school is currently 100% online.

If you don’t have the time to keep up with the school, you watch the videos on YC’s YouTube channel.

  • Your application should be fully filled out

Don’t leave stones unturned in your application. Make sure you fill in every possible question asked. They are not hard

You’re not filling out a college application of course but attention should be given to grammar, spelling, and punctuation.  Understand that someone will actually read it.

  • Founders’ video

Instructions given concerning the video are expected to be followed. The video is expected to be one minute long. You don’t need to make a movie out of it in an attempt to seek attention or do something extra.

Someone will watch the video, don’t make it complicated for that person, just a minute video of the founders introducing each other, and do not read any script! Be natural, do the video as if you are shooting a random WhatsApp video call.

All the founders should be in the founders’ video. It’s an opportunity for YC to know your team. The video shouldn’t be done by just one person or some of the members.

Members of the team not being on the video are already showing that your team isn’t taking the company seriously and you don’t want whoever is watching it to think that.

A quick question;

What if I and my co-founders are living very far from each other?

YC knows that this will happen in most cases, that is they allow founders to send any video they like as long all the co-founders are there.

What you can simply do is use a teleconferencing app like Zoom, Google hangout, or Meet to do the video. Start a meeting for all the founders and screen record but ensure everybody can be seen and audible.

  • Clarity of thought

What you are saying should be clear and audible enough, don’t imitate any tongue but be yourself. Y Combinator has never said they find it difficult to understand what a Nigerian was saying.

Also, your expressions should be very lucid. Remember you can’t convince someone if they can’t understand what you’re saying and besides it’s an application, not a novel.

In answering the questions, economize your words as much as possible and don’t write something too long. Don’t let your reader get bored in the process. A few sentences that contain the main ideas are better than pages and pages and you can’t make a head or tail out of it.

Note: Do not use technical words thinking that you will use that to entice them or make them feel you are brilliant enough to execute your idea, be simple, natural, and straightforward.

  • Clarity of idea

Your application should be clear about who and what you are doing. Don’t try to obfuscate the whole idea. You should very well explain what you’re building, who’s building the product, how it works if you’ve launched, and basic things like that. You shouldn’t try to hide anything about your idea.

Here are some tips:

  • Summarize what you are building in a simple word, not more than 50 characters. This is not easy as you have a lot of things on your head, but try to. A good head up is to reference your startup idea to a popular company, E.g Homesilo is a Zillow for Africa, or if you can find anything catching without referencing.
  • The YC Interview

The interview is ten minutes long. The questions are basic questions to know more about your business.

Steps to prepare for the Y Combinator’s Interview:

  • Don’t think too long about the questions: In preparing for the interview instead of planning your answers to every question, you should focus more on developing your product before the interview.

This will help you answer any questions about your product better. It’s not really good for your listeners to detect a kind of memorized speech in what you’re saying. You don’t expect anyone to invest in your business if you can’t freely talk about it without a rehearsal.

  •  Don’t try to be exciting: You shouldn’t try to just dazzle your listeners instead just focus on answering the questions, you are not in an audition.
  • Be concise: Remember that you have just ten minutes for the interview so you have to make sure that your listeners can get everything they need. You are supposed to tell what you’re doing, how you’re doing it, and how it will solve a problem to make it thrive in the market.

Don’t try to be all fancy in your expressions.

  • Talk about numbers, not just theories and hopes: It’s important to talk about the statistics, the problems you might face, and how you plan to handle them. How much have you made, plan to make, or how many people have joined your waitlist?
  • Don’t be over confidence: In the interview don’t be too confident that everything will work out the way it should because that denotes a lack of self-awareness. Your interviewers understand that it’s a business and it’s risky.

You should show that you understand that and you’re ready to do your best.

Telling them you will make $1bn in the first two years is still part of overconfidence, simply learn how to use words like “estimate”, “can”, “may” etc.

For tailored tips, I advise you to find yourself mentors or you can reach out to people who have applied to Y Combinator or any startup accelerator, and ask them to give you some tips, they will be glad to.

What happens if you’re not accepted into Y Combinator?

If you do not get in, Y Combinator will send an email with feedback. The feedback contains the things YC is concerned about. It’s important to take the feedback into consideration and this will help you when reapplying.

Thousand of startups with crazy ideas and some with tractions are applying to get into Y Combinator which they can only pick a few hundred. So, it’s okay to not get accepted the first time. The good news is you can totally reapply. It is important to show progress from your first application to the second one.

The skills you need for a successful interview are what you need to be a successful founder.

Just remember to be yourself in your application and interview. Don’t try to be weird or extreme and you would most likely make it to YC. And if you don’t, it’s perfectly okay to try again.

You’ve got nothing to lose, just apply!

To get started, go to https://apply.ycombinator.com/ and you are good to go.

DISCLAIMER: This post should be taken as a piece of online information telling you what you can do, and should not be consumed to replace Y Combinator’s policy and guidelines.

But is the cryptocurrency market really a scam?

The answer is simply NO.

The cryptocurrency market is just like a normal marketplace you are familiar with, we can’t conclude that because there are “few” people who sell fake clothes or shoes and say all the market-sellers are scammers.

But note something;

Definition of crypto scams or scams generally is not just about losing money. It also involves losing your privacy to fake people/companies who will in the end sell your information for money.

Some crypto scammers are not interested in your ‘short-time’ money, they need a way to invade your life and make you homeless.

How to Protect Yourself from Crypto Scams

If you don’t want trouble, trouble itself will try to pull your feet into it.

One key principle that you must uphold when using the internet is to be able to protect yourself, your details, your privacy, and your information.

The reason is that there can be a breach of information and your confidential details would be exposed to the public, this is why you should protect yourself in order to be secured on the internet.

A key factor that people do not know is that all crypto scams look different but they are actually similar in essence. Newbie cryptocurrency users always fall gullible to scams and this has retraced their steps towards acquiring crypto coins.

With the use of common sense, it is possible to avoid most of these crypto scams.

At times, you can get skeptical and critical when analyzing cryptocurrency offers for investments, also, you should prepare your mind because certain scams will surely appear as you show more interest in cryptocurrencies.

One simple rule which you should have on your mind is; “If the offer sounds too good to be true, it probably is a scam.”

But that’s not just enough right?

You need to know there is fire on the mountain even without you seeing the fire, maybe you should know by just seeing the smoke.

Without mincing words, here are some of the most common crypto scams which every cryptocurrency enthusiast should be aware of, and how to protect yourself.

What are some of the crypto scams?

#1: Cloud Mining Services

I personally believe ‘mere’ cryptocurrency mining is a scam. This kind of offer is common in countries like Nigeria where the youths are adopting cryptocurrency massively.

As a result of this, crypto scammers try to scam them by saying they can mine bitcoin or any cryptocurrency on their phone.

The gospel truth;

You can’t mine bitcoin or cryptocurrency on your phone, it’s not possible! Check how crypto mining works here.

Get that straight, anybody that tells you that you can mine crypto on your phone but you have to pay a certain amount of money, run, it is one of these crypto scam attempts.

But there is a caveat;

If you partner with a trusted crypto firm, you can mine altcoins (cryptocurrencies other than Bitcoin).

You simply buy or rent mining hardware located in a miner’s facility to mine for coins in your house or anywhere you like.

The hardware consumes electricity a lot, so you should prepare for this if at all you are interested in cloud mining.

Cloud mining scam websites are always on the lookout to defraud crypto mining community members for which the vulnerable amateurs have no choice but to fall for the trap.

If you are in the camp of people who prefer cloud mining to hardware mining, you’ll need to be extra vigilant and careful because this is the easiest way of getting scammed.

There are several tricks that cybercriminals and scammers would do to get potential victims and cover their tracks.

  • One of such tricks is by keeping their domain and WHOis information hidden.
  • Another trick they use to get victims is by registering their crypto cloud mining company in reputable places like New York, Georgia, Washington, and London but there are all foreign residents who wouldn’t register it in their country to avoid being caught.

So avoid anything mining especially if they mention mining with your smartphone or laptop.

#2: Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) Schemes

Imagine someone telling you that you have to pay money to join a marketplace, after paying, you will have to invite people to join too before you make money on your investment.

Does that make sense?

Well, maybe it does. But why can’t you let me stick to one, let me pay money and make a profit, or, call people for you and make money on each people I referred?

Bitcoin and MLM (multi-level marketing) schemes also make use of the aspect of network marketing (which is popularly referred to as referring or direct selling), through this, they make bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies sound like a scam.

Multi Level marketing schemes make promises and exaggerated claims that make the user feel fulfilled and that he can make his money quickly and make profits from his invested capital.

Just as mentioned, these schemes can easily be identified very quickly because they all have something in common.

They are not actually selling any service or product, instead, they invite you to join a complex group with other users; you’ll be required to make some payments and fees; after that, you will be promised to move from a particular level to another.

After the end of everything, you will get scammed in the pyramid scheme.

An example of this crypto MLM scam is Forsage, one of the top crypto scams in the world, It came like a storm, people really invested their money and settled down to cry bitterly. the SEC sue Forsage for $300m but would that pay all the victims?

To make money in the cryptocurrency market, you don’t need to invite anybody, you just have to learn how the market work and invest!

If you are a beginner and you will like to learn everything you need to know about cryptocurrency including trading and buying real coins, I recommend you buy the Trade & Make Money course by Chris Ani.

#3: Bitcoin Investment Packages (BIPs)

Bitcoin investment packages (BIPs) are another type of scam in the crypto industry. The Bitcoin investment schemes are not really different from the cloud mining scams.

In the real sense, they promise to return on investments and they would pay out in small or in daily returns until all payment activities would stop and they abscond with the investment funds of users.

But not that Bitcoin investment scams are different from Ponzi schemes.

Usually, these “investments” seem extremely profitable and lucrative at the first instance because the very first set of people register to get the benefits as they get paid.

Then they start testifying and convincing people of their gains, and more users will join and invest to get profits from the scheme, but these users begin to face problems when they tend to withdraw their earnings, in essence, the money invested disappears.

Poor and ignorant people are in trouble!

#4: Identifying Fake ICOs

Identifying fake ICOs gets harder because the industry is getting more sophisticated; which makes it difficult to identify the genuine ones from the scammers.

An Initial Coin Offering (ICO) which looks to sell coins must have a piece of detailed information that is clear and comprehensible.

People behind this scheme utilize what is known as crypto giveaway scams, they simply send a free and useless coin to you, once you accept the coin to your wallet, they will use it to steal all the crypto assets you have in that wallet.

It is called Rug-pulling… They don’t need access to your phone or password, just accept the fake coin and that’s all.

An established and reputable company will not be able to scam you if it is bound by the government regulations of a country and if it compromises such license, it would be apprehended and unlikely to be able to run far.

In addition to this, a good ICO must have a good presence on social media, through this method you can search for genuine and honest reviews.

But again, this is not 100% way to protect yourself. A regulated company can still scam you. A 100% way is to avoid anything called ICO if you don’t know about the technology or motivation behind the coin.

#5: Pump-and-Dump Schemes

Pump and Dump schemes are another type of scam that you must avoid. The pump and Dump scheme is all about inflating the prices of less popular crypto coins by spreading false information about that coin in a bid to get interested and enthusiasm from crypto users to actually invest their capital in it.

A good example is Zugacoin.

They pumped Zugacoin as high as $200k+ two years ago, it got to $20k+ last year, but it is now $1+

The culprits (scammers) in these schemes are people who are known as the “pumpers.”

They are the market players that “pump” a token (most often, it is an unpopular cryptocurrency that is not popular and seldom desired).

These players make purchases of significant amounts of these coins and make attempts to ‘pump’ them and hype them across numerous channels such as the social media platforms like Facebook, YouTube & Instagram to get users who would fall for it.

Once the token’s worth has artificially risen, they would dump this token in the hands of unsuspecting investors and depart, hence, the tokens become useless.

To avoid this type of scam, you can simply check the market caps of coins if they are low, but if the coin has a high price and sudden random surge, you should know that it was artificially done by fraudsters to get victims.

#6: Email Scam

In one way or another, someone, a scammer gets ahold of your email address and the next thing is to start spamming you with different and enticing emails just to invest on a platform or buy a token.

Avoid replying to any email like that, don’t even think of trying it out, it’s a scam!

No legit cryptocurrency exchange website owner or marketer will send you an email without legally collecting your email address with your consent.

The offer may look good, but report the email address of the sender as spam as soon as possible. They don’t have anything to lose, they are messaging hundreds of people at the same time, they believe if a few of you fall into the trap, they will still make money.

It is one of the crypto phishing scams, once you click on a particular link sent to you, they may have access to your device and cart away the valuable assets you store there.

Do not be part of those few.

Conclusion – avoiding cryptocurrency scams

Investing, trading, or saving in cryptocurrency is a viable way to make money online. But if you are so desperate to the extent that you don’t care about the risks involved, you will lose money.

Losing money by mistake or error in your analysis can’t be painful compared to when someone scammed you.

If you want to buy bitcoin or cryptocurrency, use a trusted platform like Buycoins Africa.

To avoid any reason to shed premium tears, note all these 6 kinds of crypto scams listed above and you will be saved to some point.

Avoid fake ICOs, they will rug-pulled you.

Avoid crypto offers on email, avoid any Ponzi scheme in form of multi-marketing marketing and every other thing mentioned in this blog post.

Aside from the listed types of crypto scams, one thing you need to avoid is using any exchange or wallet to store your cryptos.

Top 10 Growths in Africa’s tech industry of the last decade

0

Growths in Africa’s tech industry: Between 2016 and 2018, Africa’s tech industry grew by 50% while countries like Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Egypt, and a few others are listed as the most thriving in Africa’s tech industry.

From 2018 to date, a lot has happened!

Gone are those days when Africa was viewed as a continent of ‘potential scammers’ and a hub of poor people.  Of course, we still have a lot to do in making African countries meet up with the world’s giants and that’s what technology has been doing for us.

Africa’s tech industry has been making waves in recent times and the world has come to realize these improvements. making them invest in our business ideas and innovations.

According to Briter Bridges, “Technology is the next big thing in Africa”.

Let’s talk about the top 10 growths we have seen in Africa’s tech industry over the last 10 years;

Growths in Africa’s tech industry

  • The Unicorns

A unicorn is any startup that is valued at or more than One Billion US Dollars ($1Bn).

About ten years ago Africa had no single unicorn. But, in recent times the continent could account for more than seven great unicorns. This does not only signify growth, but it also spells a prosperous future for upcoming startups.

The 9 unicorns operating in Africa are as follows:

  1. Jumia: A eCommerce giant across Africa, launched in 2012 and is valued at $1bn
  2. Fawry: The first unicorn in Egypt, currently valued at $2bn
  3. Esusu: A wealth tech startup from Nigeria operating in the US is currently valued at $1bn
  4. Interswitch: Nigeria’s digital payments king, currently valued at $1bn
  5. Flutterwave: Founded in 2016 by Olugbenga Agboola (“GB”) and Iyinoluwa Aboyeji, Flutterwave is valued at $1bn
  6. Andela: A startup that connects talents with companies founded in 2014 is valued at $1.5bn
  7. Wave: Wave not “Flutterwave” is a mobile money provider from Senegal, valued at $1.7bn
  8. Opay: A Nigerian-owned fintech company currently valued at $2bn
  9. Chipper cash: Another Fintech startup founded by Ugandan and Ghanian tech guys is valued at $2bn

It happened so fast, right? Well, expect more Unicorns from Africa as the continent is massively utilizing technology to solve problems.

  • Silicon Savannah

The world respects Silicon Valley as a tech city where ideas and innovations are brought to life.

Well, in the last decade, Africa has had its own tech cities. Almost all tech giants like Google, Facebook, Netflix, Twitter, Microsoft, and Apple have all opened offices in Africa.

This is a strong signal that the world is seeing growth in Africa’s tech industry and economy.

It is notable that silicon savannah is but one corner of Africa’s tech movement. Oh, Silicon Valley is still a renowned tech city we still don’t have yet in Africa.

But let me gist you;

Iyinoluwa Aboyeji of Future Africa, and the co-founder of two of the unicorns listed above (Flutterwave and Andela), is currently building one! Yes, he is building Africa’s first tech city, just like Silicon valley.

It’s just day 1, expect more growth in Africa’s tech industry.

  • Teledensity

Teledensity simply means telephone density. It is a measurement of the percentage of people with telephones in a country.

I remember when I was in secondary school (about 8 years ago), few of us had mobile phones and mobile phones then were 98% “button phones or Java phones” as they were called.

But recently, the story has changed! The continual increase in teledensity in Africa shows how Africans are fast embracing technology.

Teledensity in Africa has increased from 63% – 107% in the last decade. This is equivalent to over 43 million new users. The Trend is replicated across the continent.

  • The Mobile Ecosystem

Do you remember when you had to take valuable stuff to the post office because you wanted to send it to someone in another city? Well, I don’t know.

But I remember we used to write letters and send them to a family member through someone traveling. The increase in teledensity solves this as you can email or send messages to anybody anytime via messengers like WhatsApp.

Aside from the fact that people are using mobile phones to communicate, it is affecting every area of our life. The continent has seen growth in the adoption of tech-enabled mobile applications in areas like money transfers (Fintechs), e-commerce, agriculture, entertainment, and many more.

You don’t need to waste your money and time just in the bank just because you want to send or withdraw money, you don’t need to visit a theater or buy discs before you see a movie and many other things that technology has made possible in the continent.

Africa now rivals any other part of the world in the adoption of enterprises and innovations being created on mobile.

  • Tech Talent and Potential

Africa relied majorly on industrialization, education, and the “grace of God” before someone could make it. But with the growth in Africa’s tech industry, we have many other options!

An article published in The Wall Street Journal by Gary Beach says by 2025, every Chief Information Officer will hire talents from Africa.

Africa has grown a lot in the availability of talents in the continent. African developers can compete even at the global level. Africa is emerging as a significant source of software engineering talent.

Africa is a continent of over one billion people, but the most impressive fact is that Africa is the third world’s youngest continent in the world with more people falling in the age range of 16 to 24 years old. And these GenZs are adopting one or more technical skills.

Tiffany Nash calls Africa India 2.0 and this is true. She says “the talent potential of Africa 2015 is similar to the talent potential of India in 1995”.

Quick reminder: India was the world’s capital of poverty, but no longer. Nigeria is now the capital poverty of the world.

But what helped India scale through, and become one of the countries with the biggest economy in the world? Tech!

With the increase in tech talents in Africa building and shipping products, Kenya, an African country is able to make it to the top list of Global competitive report 2015-2016 topping India!

Jeremy Johnson, the co-founder of Andela (an African unicorn startup that connects talents with companies) said “There are a staggering number of extraordinarily bright people (in Africa) who just don’t have a path to the global economy”.

Yes, talents and potentials are fast increasing in Africa over the last decade, thanks to startups like Andela, Turing, Tunga, TalentQL, and many others connecting them to the world.

This, of course, shows growth in the African tech industry because a few years ago, how many people know about writing code in Africa? Very few.

  • Growth of talent accelerators

With the increase of talents in Africa, we need to connect them to the “global economy” according to Jeremy of Andela. But who is going to help us?

The good news, is we don’t need to rely on a “foreign” freelancing marketplace where getting jobs is like gambling, you can win or not.

Talent accelerators like Andela, Decagon, AltSchool, Univelcity, and more aim to create pathways for careers in tech in Africa. These programs are helping to turn Africa into a source of global talent in tech.

If you are a total beginner and want to get into tech, we have accelerators for starters too. We have the likes of Zuri.team (Start.ng and HNG internship), Kodecamp, SideHustle, and many others.

  • African Women in Tech

Do you remember when they used to say “(African) women belong in the kitchen”…?

Well, the story has changed as we have more African women disrupting the tech ecosystem in Africa. Among them, we have CEOs, Co-founders, and executives of Startups. For instance, we have Ire Aderinokun of Buycoins Africa (Helicarrier Studio), Jumoke Dada of Taiello, Miishe Andy of JetStream Africa, and many more women doing amazing things in Africa’s tech industry. (Check this article on Benjamindada.com about 40 outstanding African women in tech)

According to UNESCO, the percentage of African women in tech is 30% which is more than the global percentage of 28%. This growth comes from a coordinated action to involve women and girls in tech on the continent.

  • Gen Z in Africa’s Tech

Generation Z (Gen Z) is classified as those born between 1997- 2012. This generation unlike other generations before them are digital natives i.e first generation does not live a life without technological devices. Technology has afforded Gen Zers different learning styles and tools.

In a continent like Africa where 60% of the population are Gen Zs, they have been able to use tech to do things that no other generation before them could; thereby putting Africa in the limelight regarding technology.

Few African Gen Zs disrupting the tech industry includes but are not limited to:

  • @njokuscript – CEO of Lazarpay (19 years old)
  • @eni4sure – GenZ techies and Frelapay (18 years old)
  • @heypleasant – CEO of Zeddpay and Aeroseeds Africa (17 years old)
  • @Nathan – CEO of Klas (18 years old)

We have a lot of Gen Zs who are building low-key while some others are working with big companies across the world.

Building a product in this age requires at least considering these GenZs.

  • Tech in Africa’s Education

Covid-19 hits the world, and we are still feeling the impact to date. Countries like the USA, China, and other big countries in the world had little to no fear about how their education will be affected because they have a working system.

Most African countries also have made advanced progress in education with the help of technology. We have ed-Tech startups like Edukoya, uLession, and some others who focus on teaching students online on various levels, just download the app and you are good to go!

Technology has made a great deal in modern education in Africa and still breaking great walls and making headways.

  • Tech in Africa’s business

In Africa where 80% of the career opportunities are informal, tech has helped in digitizing informal trade with tools to support logistics, management, and operations for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises.

These Growths and many more will serve as a guide to project into Africa’s future. Among the 30 fastest growing cities in technology, 21 of them are in Africa. The International Finance Corporation estimates that by 2030 there will be 230 million jobs that require a reasonable level of digital skill.

BONUS

The health sector has seen improvement with the rate at which med-Tech startups are increasing. If you need assistance in the area of health or health insurance, you don’t really need to start looking for doctors or medical professionals who are busy in their hospitals, just take your mobile phone and visit platforms like Healthtracka, Famasi, Cassava, Reliance HMO and many other MedTech startups in Africa.

Conclusion: 10 Growth in Africa’s Tech Industry

Imagine what the growth in Africa’s tech industry in the next 10 years will be… It’s going to be massive right?

Yeah, technology is fast growing in Africa today. If you are an African, this is a call for you to get into tech to be part of those making impacts and driving our continents to the world. You don’t need to quit whatever you are doing right now, you can use tech to make it more note-worthy.

If you are thinking of learning a skill that would catapult you into tech, check these digital skills mentioned here.

If you are not an African, bet on African talents and you will not regret it.

Cheers to the next 10 years of us celebrating more growth in Africa’s tech industry ?

How to Stop Fighting in a Relationship (10 Working Tips)

If you search for the keyword; How to stop fighting in a relationship, Google will show you more than 400m results. That shows the magnitude at which people fight and try to reconcile.

It can happen to anyone, including you… But why or how?

It is the skirmish of the 100 years: you and your accomplice are insured in an endless back-and-forth.

Between all the back and forth, you can’t remember which one started this specific battle.

All you know is that you’re not going to lose it, not this time. You throw another insult and remind your accomplice how he forgot to take out the trash a week ago.

Your turn, you think. If you want to make an online relationship with random people then you can chat with strangers on Omegle TV and OmeTV.

While satisfying at the time, bickering can break the foundation of your relationship. Assuming you’re fighting with your partner more and more often, addressing why is essential.

Certainly, all couples fight sometimes, but you would rather not make this an ordinary propensity.

“Personal connections are continually difficult because of their closeness and power,” couples instructor Geoff Lamb tells Brides.

“Things we experience in friends and co-workers seem to affect us when our accomplice does them.

Difficulties can often turn into fights, but they don’t have to. Fights are about winning or losing, but the experience of most couples is that in any case, when you win, you lose.

Why Do Couples Fight?

In case you are continually arguing furiously, even the most insignificant thing could start a battle. The reality of the situation is that there are many vexing issues that drive couples apart.

“During my training, I’ve heard so many arguments about the correct method of running a dishwasher that IF wonder if it wouldn’t be smarter to do the cleaning manually,” says Lamb.

How to Stop fighting in a relationship

“There are topics, [that are] fundamental to discuss when you are seeing someone living respectively, that can easily turn into battles.

These are sex, money, housework, life plans, children, the couple, and parents. in law, work, time together, time apart, and responsibilities.”

Sheep maintains: “Discussing these issues can surely turn into battles.

It’s helpful to note that one of the motivations behind why [these issues] do so is that they mean a lot to us in our connections.

This implies that we really have to discuss them with our accomplices, but maybe we can find a useful approach to do this.”

How to Stop Fighting in a Relationship: 10 Working Tips

Do you need a more pleasant relationship?

While you won’t be able to control the competition completely, there are some methodologies you can use to reduce the intensity.

We should investigate 10 clues that you can try before your next fight.

1. Adopt a positive outlook

Not everything is pessimism. “Contending shows that something is not directly in your relationship,” says Lamb.

“That ‘something’ is vital to you, as is your accomplice. Most of us rarely have fights with people who don’t mean much to us.

Feel these advantages.” Once you understand the problem, you can hope to solve it.

2. Quit needing to be right

This is a problematic propensity to break, but basically, you should give it a try.

“Most fights are about proving to our accomplice that they’re out of line, outrageous, or pointless for not doing what we think they should do.

Instead of fighting about this, why don’t you try asking for what you need? ” since it is essential for you?” proposes Cordero.

3. Take a moment to chill

“Problem subjects are testing because they produce a lot of feelings,” says Lamb. “The moment you feel great areas of strength for an approach, especially outrage, find a space with no one else to reflect on things.

Outrage usually comes when we have a need that is not being met, we don’t feel borrowed attention, taken seriously, acknowledged, or understood.

When you get together with your partner, focus on what you want.”

4. Stay on point

It’s tempting to deal with a relationship like a court official.

We need to build an argument against our accomplice and to do so, we occasionally amass ‘evidence’ from previous encounters to help our case,” says Lamb.

“This makes everything so much better than it should be.

They either have to recognize that they’re out of line, that they’ve always been out of line and can never be right, or they need to fight you.”

Rather than recapture the past, stay in the now and stick to the present point.

“Focus on the issue that’s bugging you right now and find a way to ask for what you want, without making them feel bad if they don’t give it to you.”

5. Talk about your feelings

When you’re in the middle of a dispute, you can fall into the trap of blaming your partner for everything.

Instead of focusing on your messed-up thought process, focus on your feelings about Cam Brasil. “The important thing is to convey how you feel instead of denouncing your accomplice,” added

6. Breathe before saying something mean

Your words don’t necessarily have to use lethal force.

“Calmly inhaling gives you a chance to contemplate why you need to say something bad,” Lamb makes sense.

“Usually we express bad things because we feel hurt and we need to hurt back. Express something like, ‘I feel so hurt, I need to say something subverted.’

We have been hurt and we believe the other person should be hurt for them to understand how that feels. Using the kind of phrasing I’ve described you can do that without kicking up a bit of dust.”

7. Remember the good times

Assuming you’re frantic, you may not have remembered how much your accomplice means to you.

“Build a supply of positive feelings in the relationship, including why you love each other,” says Lamb.

“Different things [that] can go into this supply are great times together, snaps of serious closeness, and spontaneous thoughtful gestures.

Take advantage when circumstances get tough.”

8. Show that you understand your partner

There are different sides to every story. Investigate things from your accomplice’s point of view.

“Convey how you might play your partner through their activities, finding out what they might think we should do and doing it,” recommends Lamb.

“The risk here is to rethink our accomplice, who is bound to delay a battle.”

9. Listen to what they have to say

Stop pondering what you need to say and pause for a minute to tune in. “A decent option for rethinking is to clarify the pressing issues and pay attention to the answers,” says Lamb.

“While tuning in, most of us focus on what we’re going to say next rather than what’s being said. In a problematic discussion, we usually also focus on whether what’s being said is valid.

We don’t really pay attention to our collaborators and are determined to uncover them.

Pay attention to your accomplice’s perception as that, their experience, without worrying about whether it’s dispassionately obvious or substantial.”

10. Consider couples therapy

Obviously, if you can’t stop struggling, you may need the help of a teacher.

“While I trust some of the advice above will be helpful, trying it isn’t simple when your relationship is caught up in winning and losing battles,” says Lamb.

“Two or three specialists can help you find an alternative outcome. They are prepared and experienced in discussing all sides of the connections.

They will need to help both partners in a similar way to make [the couple’s] relationship everything it is.” It could be. ”

Conclusion

Building a relationship that will last forever is not easy, there are some obstacles on the way and you will feel like quitting almost every day.

These 10 tips above can help you stop fighting in a relationship and therefore, build a healthier one.

Don’t forget that if you have been trying your best but to no avail, try consulting a relationship therapist or expert before you call it a quit.

An African adage says; there is no way teeth and tongue will not fight each other, yet, they have never stopped being together.

No matter how much you guys fight in your relationship, things can still get better. Don’t give up yet!

How To Drive Traffic to a Beat Store in 2022 Featuring the Top 5 Effective Ways

how to drive traffic to a beat store article

  1. GiveAway Beats or Instrumentals For Free
  2. Offer a Discount On First Beat Purchases
  3. Email Marketing
  4. Start Blogging
  5. Social Media Engagement
  • GiveAway Beats or Instrumentals For Free

Giveaway beats are a great way to promote your music and get some free exposure. It’s also an easy way to build hype around your new tracks.

People love free stuff, so this is a surefire way to get your music out there and gain some more fans.

The best part about this strategy is that it works for both instrumental and vocal tracks. You could give away instrumentals for free, or make a deal with other artists where you will release their beats as part of the deal.

This will help you gain exposure for your own tracks and give you something to offer in exchange for their promotion of theirs.

You can take your release schedule on Reddit and post early versions of upcoming songs for free on Soundcloud, Mixcloud, or any other streaming platform you have access to (be sure to tag them properly).

The best part about this method of marketing is that you don’t have to spend anything on advertising, so if you have a product that is worth promoting, then give it away for free and see what happens.

This method also works well if you have instrumentals or beats with high royalty rates because people will go crazy over the fact that they can get their hands on them for free.

  • Offer a Discount On First Beat Purchases

drive traffic to beat store - offer discounts

In order to drive traffic and sales, you need to offer a discount on first purchases. This will help build loyalty for your brand and compel people to buy more from you.

With this strategy, you want to be sure that people who are interested in purchasing your beats will be able to do so at a low price point.

The best way to accomplish this is by offering a discount on their first purchase. Make it so that if they buy one of your beats, they will get an additional 50% off their next purchase.

This means that if they buy two beats, they will get 100% off their next purchase.

This is an effective strategy because it gives people who have been thinking about buying beats an incentive to do so now instead of later or never at all.

It also creates good word-of-mouth marketing as more people become aware of these deals and tell their friends about them.

  • Email Marketing

Ever heard the term “The money is on the list?”

Email marketing is one of the best ways to drive traffic to a beat store.

It’s free, easy, and effective.

It is the most direct way of getting your customers’ attention. If you’re running an email list, then you can send out emails that contain content that will intrigue your audience. You can also use email to promote upcoming releases or special discounts.

You can use email marketing to encourage people to buy beats online in exchange for exclusive access to a new release or extra content.

For example; if you have a new album coming out soon, you could offer subscribers early access by signing up for an email list and then sending them an exclusive link when the album drops.

Ai tools like copy ai can help you in creating high converting copies for your email marketing campaign and in turn, get your subscribers to take action.

That should come in handy if you don’t know how to write compelling emails.

If you have an email list that’s already growing and you’re looking for ways to develop it, even more, consider promoting your music store by sending out an email campaign every few days or so.

You can promote new products or upcoming events and make sure that you’re reaching out to people who are most likely interested in what you offer.

  • Start Blogging

You can drive traffic to your store by blogging.

Blogging is a great way to reach out to the people who may be interested in your music, but who aren’t yet ready to buy it.

If you blog regularly and write about topics that are relevant to your target audience, people will find you and trust you enough to give you their email address.

You can then use that email address to send them information about upcoming releases, promotions, and sales.

Here are two ways to drive traffic to your beat store through blogging:

1. Write about new releases and promotions

If there’s something new coming out from a beat store, make sure it’s listed on your blog first. You don’t want other websites stealing all the attention from yours!

2. Promote discounts and events

If there’s an event or sale at a beat store that you want people to know about, make sure they know!

Post it on your blog as well as social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

If you plan to use blogging as a channel to increase exposure to your store, one important thing to take note of is SEO.

Learn SEO and use it to your advantage.

  • Social Media Engagement

When it comes to driving traffic, there’s no way you’re leaving out social media.

Social media engagement is a key to driving traffic to your store. Use social media to promote your own business and your music, including Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.

Music lovers will want to hear what you have to say, so be sure to engage with them on their preferred networks. Keep in mind that not everyone uses the same social media platform so make sure you post on all of them.

You can also use social media as a way to announce new releases or other news about your career as a musician. If you have an album coming out soon, for example, post about it on Facebook and Twitter using the hashtag #MyNewAlbum.

When posting about new projects or releases, make sure that your posts include links to the song previews on your blog or website, or SoundCloud page so fans can preview them immediately after they view them in their feeds.

Hawkit.ng Review – How to Make Money on Hawkit.ng (Earn up to N36k!)

Hawkit.ng is the latest platform to make money online in Nigeria. No doubt, at least you have seen someone post about it either on Facebook or your WhatsApp status.

We are in Nigeria where people are so eager to make money, of course, due to how poor the country is. Everybody is trying to survive.

But also, due to this, some people have become a victim of scams, especially on platforms like Hawkit.ng.

You know about NNU Income, a platform that claimed to help people make money online platform that carries people’s money into “vanishing”. And a lot of apps and websites like that.

But let’s talk about Hawkit.ng.

What is Hawkit.ng?

Hawkit.ng is an eCommerce platform that offers a more convenient way for people to sell and advertise their products, and for consumers to buy items below market prices.

You can buy almost any commodities including cars, shoes, clothes, yam, data subscription, hire an artisan, etc.

Maybe Hawkit.ng would be best described as a “classified ads” website like Jiji.ng or Craiglist.

But wait;

Hawkit.ng is not really a “money-making platform” but, an “eCommerce platform”.

In fact, when Hawkit.ng was originally launched, it focused only on eCommerce (selling, advertising, and buying stuff).

It was later the platform decided to add money-making features, at least to get people along as big platforms like Jumia and Konga are already dominating the eCommerce industry in Nigeria.

That means transactions are actually taking place there, it’s not like a platform where you only need to register and start referring people to register too. If they don’t register someone, then you have nothing to gain.

Now that the platform has added features for people to make money, can it be trusted? That brings us to the question;

How Does Hawkit.ng Work?

  • Buying & selling of “Anything”: If you sell stuff, you can list and advertise them on Hawkit, then people who are interested will buy from you
  • Buying & Reselling Data plan: As described earlier, you can buy stuff below the market price. The same thing applies to data plans, you can buy at a lower price on Hawkit.ng and sell at a normal price to people
  • Boost Your Social Media Accounts: Instead of doing “follow-for-follow” or using bots to engage with your social media accounts, you can pay a fee on Hawkit.ng and they’ll bring you real and organic engagement
  • Perform Tasks to Earn Money: The first 3 mentioned above are the core reason for having a platform like Hawkit.ng in the first place. But to drive more engagements and create awareness, that’s why there is a feature to make money on Hawkit.ng.

We will talk about this money-making part soon. But before then, let’s talk about the legitimacy of this platform;

Click here to Join Hawkit & Start making Money

Is Hawkit.ng Legit or Scam?

Someone asked me this, but for me to provide an answer, it took me about 2 days to do my research.

The outcome: Hawkit.ng is not a scam, it is legit.

Oh, how am I so sure that Hawkit.ng is legit? Maybe that’s what is wiggling on your mind now.

Well, I had to look for loopholes, how bad people are taking about Hawkit.ng but I have till now found nothing. Instead, I’m hearing how good the platform is.

For instance, a friend of mine who has been engaging on different platforms to make money online and has been scammed at different times shared her experience about Hawkit.ng with me.

She said when she heard about Hawkit.ng, she felt it was going to be like other platforms that scam people. But she decided to “risk it”. She paid N1,000 for the registration fee to become a member.

But in a few days, she has earned N2,500 which is over 200% of her investment.

Unlike many Ponzi scheme platforms you can see the hundred thousand you’re making on your dashboard but can’t withdraw it.

But on Hawkit.ng, she was able to withdraw her earnings to her “Zenith bank account” in just a few clicks.

And a lot of other people share their own stories online too.

Hawkit.ng is Legit? One daring thing about Hawkit.ng…

The platform claims they will refund your registration fee of N1,000 if you don’t make more than that within 30 days!

I Mean it takes some darings for someone or a platform to promise a refund if the product or service did not work as advertised.

How Can I Make Money on Hawkit.ng?

Making money on Hawkit.ng is as simple as doing as pressing your phone and doing what you like doing; being on social media and maybe sharing information with people.

Here are basically what to do to make money on Hawkit.ng:

  • Refer and Earn

Because Hawkit.ng is still growing, they’re leveraging referral marketing strategies to boost their product awareness.

What they do is simple;

You join to become a member; you also refer someone to become a member and you earn on each member you successfully referred.

Oh oh… You’re thinking this is those regular “bring two-two people platforms”. I got you. Experience ?

But Hawkit is not like that. As I said, Hawkit.ng is an eCommerce platform, not a money-making platform. So, you can choose to ignore this refer and earn feature and focus on other things on the platform.

How Much Does Hawkit.ng Pay Per referral?

For every successful referral, you will be paid N500.

For someone to become a member, they have to pay a sum of N1,000, and Hawkit.ng will give you 50% of that whenever someone joined the platform through your referral code.

Imagine you are able to refer at least 10 people per week, that’s N5,000 for you.

So, the refer and earn feature on Hawkit.ng is a viable way to make money online in Nigeria. Let’s talk about another way to make money on Hawkit.ng

  • Perform Social Tasks

This is as simple as liking other people’s posts, following pages, and commenting. Sometimes, sharing posts to your social media platforms, especially WhatsApp.

The commission on each social task varies and is relatively small. But if you are consistent enough, it could be something “hooge”.

ALSO READ: How to Make Money on WhatsApp

Commission on Performing social tasks on Hawkit.ng

  • On Hawkit.ng, posting on WhatsApp status, you will earn N20 per post
  • To follow people’s pages and accounts on Instagram, Hawkit.ng will pay you N3
  • To follow people’s pages and accounts on TikTok, Hawkit.ng will pay you N3
  • To follow people’s pages and accounts on Facebook, Hawkit.ng will pay you N3
  • Subscribe to Youtube Channel – ₦30 per Subscription
  • View and Post Comments on Youtube – ₦20 per View and Comment
  • Post Comments – ₦15 per Comment
  • Hawkit Google Play App Review – ₦30 per Review
  • Hawkit Apple Store Review – ₦60 per Review

If you can post and perform 5 WhatsApp tasks in a day, that’s N100. If you are consistent with that for 30 days, that’s N3,000.

  • Resell Data & Airtime

This is entire as a business on its own. You can buy 6G MTN data for N1,460 and resell it at the rate of N1,500 which means you will earn N40 as a profit.

Data reselling business is very common in Nigeria just like the Recharge card printing business and I know people are earning from it.

  • Sell Something, anything on Hawkit.ng

You don’t need me to explain this as it is what you have been doing for a long as a business person. You can sell anything on Hawkit.ng and make money.

One benefit of using Hawkit.ng to sell your stuff is that your product will be automatically targeted to those people within your city so that you won’t need to stress yourself targeting the wrong audience and worrying about delivery.

If you have sold something on the likes of Jiji or Jumia before, Hawkit is a great alternative you need to try.

How to Register on Hawkit.ng

To register on Hawkit.ng, all you need is your internet-enabled smartphone or laptop and you’re good to go. Below is a step-by-step guide on how to do that;

  1. Click here to sign up (kindly use gbolamedia as your referral code)
  2. When clicked on the registration link above, you will land on a page where you will enter your basic data, do so and follow the next commands.
  3. Become a member by activating with N1,000. This is optional but if you want to earn on Hawkit.ng, you have to pay this fee.

Hawkit.ng - Become a member

4. After successful registration and activation, start carrying out your tasks to make money.

Tips to Make Money on Hawkit.ng

Making money online is not easy especially when it comes to using this type of platform. But here are my few tips on how you can maximize Hawkit to earn big.

  • Have a target per day and be consistent with the target. In a day, you may make it your goal to refer just 2 people…

Share 5 times to your WhatsApp, subscribe to YouTube channel, and other platforms, etc… just to target something around N1,200 per day.

If you are consistent with that goal, that is N1,200 in 30 days which is N36,000 – this even passes over the minimum wage in Nigeria.

  • Use your WhatsApp status to tell people about Hawkit.ng, don’t just post, be creative with whatever you are posting. You’re selling, you’re not looking for views. Tell them why Hawkit.ng is legit and how they can make money on it
  • Go on Facebook and other tools you use. Talk to friends around you. Don’t be ashamed of making money dear.

Conclusion – Hawkit.ng is Legit, Make Money on Hawkit.ng

As said earlier, Hawkit.ng is not a money-making platform like other Ponzi schemes you are familiar with. Before you earn on Hawkit, you need to work and you may choose not to refer anybody.

Although you can earn as much as possible on Hawkit.ng but register it on your mind as a “side-hustle”.

If you want to make money in the long run, I will advise you to learn a skill, I always tell people this. Don’t depend on platforms like these because it may be for just a short period of time.

But anyways, Hawkit is still here. Let’s see how much you can earn, don’t forget to use “gbolamedia” as your referral code during the registration, or simply click this link to get started ASAP.

If you have any questions, kindly contact Hawkit’s customer support.

2022 UTME Result Checker: How to Check Your JAMB Result Easily!

UTME RESULT: A lot of 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME candidates have been trying to check their results especially, those who did their exams on Friday 6th and Saturday 7th of May, 2022.

When will JAMB release the UTME 2022 result? If the examination body released the results, how can I check my result without visiting any cyber café office? In this blog post, I will tell you everything you need to know about 2022 UTME.

Have the 2022 UTME Results Released?

No! As of the time of writing this blog post, the 2022 UTME results haven’t been released.

When will the 2022 UTME Results Be Released?

Some blogs are peddling unconfirmed news such as saying that the result will be out on the 10th of May 2022. But the 10th of May passed and they shifted it to May 13th, 2022… Yesterday was May 13th and nothing has been released so far.

They’ve again shifted the release date to May 16th, 2022 ?‍♀️

But would the 2022 UTME result be released on May 16th, 2022?

No one knows! Except for God, JAMB, and her stakeholders.

Why has JAMB Haven’t Release 2022 UTME Results?

The reason is simply that they’re still checking the 2022 UTME results and CCTVs for examination malpractice.

A piece of trending news about why JAMB hasn’t released 2022 UTME Results is because those who sat for the exam on May 6th and 7th, 2022 passed the exam beyond expectation and that’s why JAMB is trying to investigate everything thoroughly before the results will be released.

But is that true?

Well, I see no sense in that. Why would JAMB predict and expect some candidates to fail the Exam they’ve prepared for as if their life depends on it.

Important: ASUU Keep striking like thunder! Here are digital skills you can learn to make money online as a student

According to a report by TheGuardian, JAMB said they would not release the results “until it receives reports of examination malpractices” because 60% of the results came in after the exam has been concluded.

Maybe that makes sense. It may be possible for students to engage in examination malpractice and yes, let’s them check all CCTV to fish out the bad eggs.

JAMB’s registrar, Prof. Oloyede added they will not be creating any kind of confusion this year.

Imagine if 60% of the results are released and the remaining 40% of candidates are waiting on God before they see theirs, that’s going to be a premium confusion indeed.

So, bro, keep calm. The results will be released soon. Stop giving yourself heartache whenever you see these online blogs baiting you into clicking their post link by saying the result is out.

If the result is out, you don’t need these blogs’ confirmation, you can know when it is released yourself.

Where to Check if the 2022 UTME Has Been Released?

Without giving yourself to anxieties, you can confirm the news when JAMB released the results on the following platforms:

  • JAMB Portal: It is currently inactive but when the results have been released, the portal will be opened automatically.
  • News Platforms like ThePunch, TheGuardian & Vanguard: When the results have been released, JAMB will send information to these News platforms for dissemination
  • Check Threads: You can follow JAMB’s official handle on Twitter, check the MySchool thread

Stop giving yourself heartache, wait… Let the information come to you.

If the results have been released, the next thing is checking.

How to Check 2022 UTME Result

7 Super Professional Tips to Build a Successful Business in 2022

0

It is a new year and you’ve been thinking of how you can build a successful business but don’t know how or where to start. Let’s talk about that and see if you’ll learn something, or be inspired.

Some businesses fail because they’re following old blueprints which no longer work effectively to build their startup.

We’ve learned a lot between 2020 and 2021, and we’ve seen how businesses are affected by the ongoing Corona Virus pandemic. But ideas to start or build a business are waxing stronger in us, how are we going to bring these ideas to reality?

But is 2022 the right time to start a business?

Yes, it’s never too late to start a business in 2022 and you are still going to see rapid growth if you put in all the efforts.

Regardless of the Coronavirus and its variants, you’ll agree with me that starting and building a business these days is easier compared to a few years ago as a result of technology and more investors who’re ready to provide capital for a futuristic business plan.

According to a report, investors spent more than $140 billion to support startups in 2017 and the figures have increased ever since then till date. This shows how people like you are creating something or a platform that solves a ‘problem’ and how people are ready to support it.

If you’re also planning to launch your startup, you’re welcome, it’s never too late to be phenomenal.

Aside from investors who’re ready to invest, you don’t necessarily need to build your business by renting a big hall or apartment for office use, thanks to COVID-19, you can gather your team and work remotely, while you’re saving a lot of money that will go into office setup.

If you have a good business plan or startup idea and you’re worried about what to do next, the following tips will help you get started;

7 Tips to Build a Business in 2022

#1. Do Your Research and Understand Your Mission

You see, a lot of people see other people building stuff and they got jealous to build something too – this is a wrong motivation to start a business.

You have to think clearly about what you want to do, you ask yourself: “In what way(s) can this idea or business help people?” – emphasize “help people”.

If you want to start a fashion design company, do your research thoroughly and understand that you’re about to build a type of business some people have built already. So, how are you planning to get better and beat your competitors?

For instance, can you think of a unique fashion trend and dominate it for the long term? If yes, what fashion trend and how can you hit the market with your idea?

You have to plan all these, you just don’t voluntarily jump into the ocean without knowing if it’s safe or not. If it’s not safe, then how are you going to survive?

#2. Get a Team Members with Common Goals

The spirit of being the CEO and (sole) founder is part of what’s killing some businesses and startups to date. I’m not saying you can’t build a business alone, you can! But you can’t survive alone. If you survive alone, you won’t go far alone.

Build a Successful Business
People (Team) Working Together – Credit: Pexels.com

You have to understand this concept. If you read about big business builders in the world, you’ll notice one thing that’s very common to them – they don’t build alone!

Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk, etc., will tell you that they called their friends when they were about to start their company. Why? It’s simply because they need teammates who can work with them to achieve their primary and respective goal(s).

The reason is simply that if one is falling, another person will lift him. And this boils down to you looking and calling the right people to join you or else if you fall, that’s the end of the business.

So look for the right people in your circle, during meetups, on social media, share the business idea with them and be patient to see those who’ll be ready to join you.

Getting team members here is different from hiring people. You have to look for someone or some people who’re ready to take ownership of the business and work diligently.

They can in turn be your co-founder, CTO, etc… Just make sure you’re careful and patient enough to see someone with the same common goal.

#3. Start Building with the Little You Have:

You know the type of business you want to build and you have someone or some people who are ready to work with you. The next thing is to start building that business with the little resources you have.

The mistake most people make is that they’re waiting for the “perfect time” and that time translate to when they have sufficient money to invest in the business. The truth is that that perfect time won’t come unless you start now.

And I will like to say this if you’re starting a new business but you don’t have money to invest personally, you’re still not going anywhere. It’s either you get a job, make money and come back to that idea or, you sell the business idea to someone else.

The bottom line is that you have to start from you, even if you will need investors to inject capital into your business, you have to show them something – your ideas + efforts.

#4. Create Good Information and Communication Flow

As part of what you’re starting with, is how you can bridge the communication gap between your business and your target audience (investors included). That’s why you need to invest in creating that information and communication flow.

This is not a big deal at all, you just need to create an online presence for your business by getting a website, getting on social media, and investing in Email marketing or CRM tools.

If you can’t build the website yourself, you can hire freelancers to get the job done for you, there are free email marketing tools like MailChimp that you can get started with. You can hire an expert to manage your business’s social media handles for you too. The person will be in charge of content creation, posting, and attending to comments.

Having a website is very important, if it’s just a landing page, do it and let people know about your business from there and use your social media handles to keep telling people about your mission, not that loudly tho.

#5. Start Expanding the Business

You’ve tried a lot, but it’s not the time to relax. It’s time to start thinking of expansion. I mean expansion at all lengths.

If you launch your business to focus on people in Canada and they accept it with open hands, it’s time to expand to New York, and then to Paris, to Africa, etc.

In your team as well, you need to have some people who will be in charge of marketing, human resources, engineering, international relation, legal, and many departments within your company.

With great power comes greater responsibility, the more you’re growing, the more you should expand.

But what if your company can’t afford to hire people you need to run the business as you’re thinking of expanding, is that the end? No, it’s not!

#6. It’s time to Seek Business Funding

This is not a must if your business can afford to finance itself, but I bet it can. As a startup that’s at the entry or expansion stage, you need money to take care of a lot of things and some people are ready to provide that money!

There are people called Angel investors and some are called Venture capitalists, these people are in the business of investing in other businesses to make a profit. No money is too big to invest for VCs as long as your company’s evaluation is also big.

If you think your business need funding, kindly check this blog post on how to get one for your business.

#7. Don’t Stop Expanding; Invest More in Your Business

You’re not there yet. Start investing more in advertising, your team members, think of innovation and, acquire other related small businesses.

Just don’t stop growing!

I hope these tips will help you start that business in 2022 and I believe you can conquer the world, don’t worry, start today!

MTN’s IPO: How to Buy MTN Shares with less than N50,000

0

Here is your time to shine, you can now buy MTN shares and join the leagues of MTN shareholders in Nigeria.

Nigeria’s telecommunication giant, MTN Nigeria recently announced the selling of 575 million of its shares to the public on Tuesday, November 30th, 2021. Just in case you don’t know what “shares” is, let’s me quickly tell how it works;

What are Shares?

Share simply means a percentage of ownership in a company. Those who hold these shares are called “shareholders” and you can also call them “investors”.

What that simply means is that, let’s say you buy MTN shares, you have a percentage of every percentage of the company. If the stock rises, your share rises and vise versa.

How Shares Work?

The more shares of a company you’re holding, the more decision-making power you have in that company and the more your profit if the company is performing well.

Let’s say you buy 250 units of MTN shares at the rate of N169 each, which is N42,250.

And luckily, MTN stocks jump to x10, that’s also N42,250 x 10 for you. You’ve made N422,500!

That’s just the simple idea, if you know how FOREX, stocks, or cryptocurrency work, you have the idea of how Shares work also.

But you don’t need to panic because MTN Nigeria is leading and doing well in Nigeria, investing your money to buy from their shares will be a good return on investment (ROI) for you.

…and this is a golden opportunity if you’ve been looking for where to invest your money.

Right in this blog post, I’m going to share with you how can buy these MTN shares easily and answer a few things you may want to know. But let’s start with the eligibility and requirements;

Kuda Overdrafts: Eligibility and How to Qualify to Borrow Money from Kuda Bank

0

You’ve heard the popular anthem on YouTube, Streaming apps, or where that says: “No shame in borrowing when you can easily take Kuda Overdrafts” and you wonder what’s this all about? How can I qualify to borrow money?

I will quickly talk about that in this blog post. And I assume you don’t have an account with Kuda bank yet, but if you already have one, you can navigate to the right part for you by using the table of content below.

What are Kuda Overdrafts?

Kuda Overdrafts are money borrowed for a short period of time to take care of urgent issues. You can say Kuda Overdraft is a “short-term” loan, that’s how Kuda Bank describes it.

It’s not like a loan that you have to request before it’s disbursed, but the process is automatic, hence, it is called “Overdrafts” and not technically “loan”.

How Kuda Overdrafts Work

Assuming you have N50,000 on your Kuda bank, and you need to pay school fees of N100,000, you can withdraw that N100,000 to pay your school fees and your account will be -50,000 (If you are qualified already for overdrafts).

Just understand it as the way you borrow airtime or data from MTN when you need it urgently. You don’t need to visit the MTN office or fill any form before you borrow. Once you’re a regular user of MTN, you can borrow anything on the SIM and pay on your next recharge.

How Kuda Overdrafts Work - Image Credit: Kuda bank
How Kuda Overdrafts Work – Image Credit: Kuda bank

That’s how Kuda Overdrafts work – Just like using a credit card in foreign countries).

Learn More: What is Kuda Overdraft?

Because some Nigerians are victims of embarrassment resulting from taking loans online, you may think that Kuda Overdraft is in that caliber of embarrassing their customers. But Kuda Bank is not!

CHECK: Top Apps to Manage Your Finance in Nigeria

I’ve been using Kuda Bank for a few years and I enjoy their banking service. When I qualify for overdrafts, I took it (without shame) to see if they’ll frustrate my life but till now, I’ve never been embarrassed or stalked because I borrow money from Kuda bank.

Kuda Overdrafts Vs Other Loan Apps

  • Low interest: Kuda Bank takes a very small interest. I mean very low as 0.3% daily interest. That is just N30 daily if you borrow N10,000 – If you pay up within 10 days, you’ll pay just N300, or let’s say you pay after a month, you’ll pay just N900. Crazy. Right?
  • No Paperwork: You’re not filling any form either online or offline before you can qualify for Kuda Overdrafts.
  • No Collateral: This may sound like an invalid reason why borrowing money from Kuda Bank is the best, but it is a valid reason. Those who said they don’t take collateral are right, but they’ll use the contacts on your phone as their collateral. You gerrit?
  • No Embarrassment: As I said above, these loan apps will copy all the numbers on your contact list for special embarrassment later. Kuda bank doesn’t do this at all, you pay when you’re financially buoyant.
  • I will also say borrowing money from Kuda bank will give you peace of mind, they will never call or email you to repay.

To borrow money from Kuda bank is not a “squid game” unlike fake loan apps that run after people’s life. If you want to know more about these loan sharks and how to avoid them, read this blog post.

How to Qualify for Kuda Overdrafts

There are steps you must take before you can be able to borrow money from Kuda Bank. They are:

  1. Become a User of Kuda Bank (Register and Verify your account)
  2. Use Kuda Bank regularly (to transfer, receive, pay bills, buy airtime)
  3. You’ll qualify automatically (Again, you don’t need to fill any form)

#1 Become a User of Kuda Bank

All you have to do is to download the Kuda Bank app on either Playstore or Appstore (for iOS), register, verify your BVN, phone number, and email address.

You may also need to upload your NIN slip, and you’re good to go. This is the first step to qualify for KUDA overdrafts.

#2 Use Kuda Bank Regularly

After becoming a user, the next step is to become a frequent user and this is what will qualify for Kuda’s “short-term” loan (overdrafts).

But you may want to ask how often or regularly should you use Kuda Bank?

Well. I don’t have a straight answer, but In my case, I use Kuda for 80% banking that I want to do. I use it to receive money, send money, bill data, and airtime. I don’t just keep N1,000 there, I keep most of my Naira in my Kuda bank account.

#3. You’ll Qualify Automatically

The system has been programmed to upgrade regular users to have access to Kuda overdrafts. So, you don’t need to request approval or whatsoever. Just use Kuda Bank regularly and you’ll get your own “lunch” from Kuda.

PS: The first time I received a notification that I’m qualified for Kuda Overdrafts, I can only borrow N30,000 but later, I think after 2 months, I can get up to N75,000.

I believe the more you keep using the Kuda for banking, the more they’ll increase how much you can borrow on the app.

How To Borrow Money on Kuda App?

On the home screen of your app, simply swipe to, or click on “Borrow”, adjust the range element to how much you need and click on “Get your Overdrafts”. That’s all.

What the video below to see how to do that:

Borrow Money Without Shame, Take Kuda Overdrafts

This is the first time I will see something like this aside from borrowing from telcos. Kuda Bank is really stepping up its game and it has been a great experience for us (customers).

I enjoy taking Kuda overdrafts without shame, no harassment, no room for getting stranded on cash. Just become a regular user, and you’ll enjoy the same experience.

But some people do ask; what if they fail or refuse to pay back the money they borrow from Kuda Bank? Well, I don’t know what will happen, but I’m sure Kuda Bank has a way to sort it out amicably or legally.

You can’t outsmart Kuda Bank if you’re thinking of taking the overdrafts “japa”. You can’t japa because security agencies will nab you. This is not a threat, remember I said Kuda Bank will never embarrass you like some loan sharks used to do.
