Uber Names Dara Khosrowshahi As New CEO After Travis Kalanick's Resignation

Dara Khosrowshahi Replaced Travis Kalanick As Uber Chief Executive Officer, CEO.

Dara Khosrowshahi who is the Boss of Expedia has been selected to replace Travis Kalanick as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Uber after ending months of speculation in the firm’s search for a new leader.

BBC reported that Uber’s board of directors has made and finalized the decision on Sunday, but the company has made no official announcement pertaining to it.

According to BellaNaija, the previous Uber CEO, Travis Kalanick resigned from his podition in June after months of turmoil at the travel company which includes a series of controversies about sexual harassment, macho culture and departure of senior executives.

Pressure from the company's shareholders may have also triggered his resignation and the role has attracted several big names including Hewlett Packard boss Meg Whitman and General Electric chairman Jeff Immelt.

Immelt ruled himself out of the race over the weekend, while reports clearly showed that Whitman was the most likely successor despite her saying she was not interested in the job either.

A spokesperson for Uber refused to comment on the appointment and there has been no official comment from the new Uber CEO, Dara Khosrowshahi.
