METHOD 1: Protect Microsoft Word Document With Password on WINDOWS

• 1. The first thing you must do is to launch or open the Microsoft word document you want to protect with password (it may be blank or filled document but, just open any Microsoft word document you want to protect).

•2. After opening the Microsoft word and, it has already opened, Click on File which you will find at the top upper-left corner of the screen you are on. After clicking on File, a file menu will appear.

•3. In the appeared file menu, click on Info tab and info tap menu will appear (it’s on the left hand side of the window).

•4. After that, click on Protect Document, a lock icon which is below the document’s name very close to the top of the page. After clicking Protect Document, a drop down menu will appear.

•5. On the drop down menu, click on Encrypt with Password which is at the top of the drop down menu. After clicking on this, another page will appear.

•6. In the appeared window, you will see where you will input password. Type your preferred password in the Password text field.

•7. After entering your preferred password, click on Ok which is at the bottom of the pop-up window.

•8. Re-enter the Password again and click on Ok.

METHOD 2: Protect Microsoft Word Document With Password on MAC

•1. The first thing you must do is to launch or open the Microsoft word document you want to protect with password (it may be blank or filled document but, just open any Microsoft word document you want to protect).

•2. After opening the Microsoft word document, click on Review which can be found at top of the page you are currently working on. After clicking on “Review”, a tool bar will appear.

•3. On the Appeared tool bar, click on Protect Document which is a lock shaped icon on the right hand side of the tool bar.

•4. After clicking on “Protect Document”, In the appeared window, you will see where you will input password. Type your preferred password in the Password text field.

Doing this will prevent people from being able to open the document without entering the password but, If you want to prevent people from modifying the document, type a password into the bottom text field on this window

•5. After doing this, click on Ok

•6. Re-enter the Password again and click on Ok.

After doing these steps above, nobody will be able to access the document again without inputting password.
