Senator Isiaka Adeleke’s Death: INEC Fixed July 8 For Osun West Senatorial District Bye-Election For New Senator In The Constituency
The Nigeria Electoral body, Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has fixed 8th of July, 2017 for Osun-West Senatorial district bye-election to vote in another senator in replacement of Senator Isiaka Adeleke who was formally representing the constituency but has now slept in death.
According to the statement shared yesterday, Monday in Osogbo by Administrative secretary of Osun state chapter of INEC, Mr E.A Ademusire in Osun state capital, Osogbo said, Conduct of Parties’ Primaries will start today, Tuesday 6th till June 14 while the main election will be polled on July 8.
The Osun West Senatorial throne became empty after the sudden death of Senator Isiaka Adeleke on April 23, 2017 (May He Rest in Peace).
According to the notice shared by the INEC Administrative Secretary, it expatiated that the bye-election was scheduled “consequent upon the position of the enabling status that bye-elections to fill the declared vacant seat by the National Assembly will be conducted within 30 days upon declaration.”
The notice continued and made it a firm declaration that the Osun-west Senatorial bye-election to replace Senator Senator Isiaka Adeleke who died on position will be hold on July 8, 2017:
“Take note that by the directives of the Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission’s bye-election for Osun West Senatorial seat will hold on Saturday, July 8, 2017.”
In the notice shared, an attachment which showed that the day of submitting party nomination closes on June 15 and declaration of the nominated candidates’ names will be published on June 22 while the final submission of names and addresses of party agents to INEC officials will be June 30, 2017.
