Bird Flu Is In Nigeria Again – FG Warns

The Federal government has warned the general public through the Director of Veterinary and Pest Control Services if the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and rural development about the recent outbreak of Bird flu in Nigeria.

According to the statement released by the Veterinary Director, Mr Gideon Mshelbwala listed the states in Nigeria which is affected by Bird Flu.

The States Affected by Bird Flu Outbreak In Nigeria Are as follows:-

1. Bauchi
2. Kaduna
3. Kano
4. Katsina
5. Nasarawa
6. Plateau
7. FCT, Abuja
8. Kaduna.

Initially, this Bird Flu outbreak has been reported in just 8 states in Nigeria on May 30, 2017 but recently, the disease has spreads to 26 states across the nation since 2008 which has affected over 800 farms in 128 local government areas.

Mr. Gideon Mshelbwala said the easiest way to fight and defeat the Bird Flu disease in Nigeria is to impose Ban on importation of poultry birds and products, quarantine and bio-security measures, and other things related to it.

He finally warned the poultry farmers against arrant and illegal vaccination of poultry birds.
