About 32,000 Nigeria's citizens who travelled illegally to Germany are seeking asylum status in the country while another 12,000 Nigerians were set to be deported back to their country, Nigeria.

Ms. Rita Orji, who is the chairwoman of the committee on Diaspora Affairs made this known at a seminar in Lagos on Wednesday which was organized Migration Enlightenment Project Nigeria (MEPN).

Ms. Rita Orji added that Europe and Asia have also experienced rapid increase in illegal immigrants from Nigeria.

She explained that many migrants from Nigeria, are mostly women who are sexually abused by their sponsors and are forced to engage in prostitution. Ms. Orji added that most of the Nigerians who returned/deported from foreign countries, especially country like Libya, are HIV/AIDS positive.

Ms. Orji said:
"Some of those that voluntarily returned from Libya came back with various sexually transmitted diseases, including Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS). Most of our ladies are used as sexual machines in Europe and other parts of the world."

Some illegal immigrants have their organs sold on black markets.
